Silveraurora Registered American Saanens

OUR BUCKS ARE LISTED BELOW THE DOES - BE SURE TO GO SEE WHO WE HAVE IN OUR HERD!

*************************************************************************
I am grateful to have American Saanens from one of the premier herds in the US, Des-Ruhigestelle, who has produced multiple National Champions and Top Ten milking does for decades now. I couldn't ask for better quality or a better mentor for the Saanen breed. They are incredible milk producers and it's not unheard of to have a mature doe producing 2 gallons of milk a day at her peak. The Des-Ruhigestelle herd average for 305 day milk production is over 3,000 pounds with a number of them producing more than 4,000 pounds. Add that to their gentle and very friendly nature as a breed, you can indeed have a family milker that you will enjoy both off and on the milkstand.

The herd is fed organically-raised grass hay from our own hayfields as well as a custom mixed vitamin/mineral concentrate, barley from up north, kelp, and non-GMO roasted soybeans are added to create our dairy feed. Our feeding regimine can lower milk volume but increase components and since we make lots of cheese, this is reasonable to us. With dairy alfalfa selling for more than $525 a ton here, I'm sure you can understand why we don't feed it on a regular basis!

ALL SAANENS TESTED NEGATIVE FOR CAE CL, AND JOHNE'S JANUARY 2011. WE TEST OUR WHOLE HERD, ALL ADULTS, ANNUALLY - ALWAYS WHOLE HERD NEGATIVE.

Dearly is an incredible doe, long, level, dairy, and extremely correct. Her udder is socked on tight, high, wide, and with excellent attachments. As a FF, I was only able to attend 1 show with her but she not only won the AOP class but went on to take Best Udder In Show at the ADGA Alaska State Fair! Her pedigree is stellar with multiple Top Ten milkers, Superior Genetics awards, and National Show winners. Dearly's littermate brother, Eclipse, resides in the Redwood Hill herd. When Lauren and Fern made her available to our herd, I was pretty ecstatic to say the least! I try not to let her walk on water tho. Dearly is milking through as a FF and was appraised a week before kidding with a near-empty udder, and scored accordingly. Once freshened, she has filled that glorious udder again.

Doe kids/ buck kids $650 each. Kidded with a single doe kid 7/16/11; milking through. Due 3/6/12 through 4/8/12 with several breedings to Alexedrea. Confirmed pregnant 12/28. A doe kid may be retained; buck kids will be avialable.

Francie is *my* girl who loves to put a hoof on me and patiently wait for me to scratch her chest, and won't leave me alone until I do! She presently has our most level topline in the herd.

Sadly we lost our Francie to impaction this winter. Her loss is felt greatly, her personality was huge and my best friend will be missed.

Another doe from the Des Ruhigestelle herd, Entrepid. She's a marvelous, inquisitive girl with an outgoing personality. She is also our biggest Saanen and very nice overall general appearance. Because she a single buck kid this year and really no one to put him with based on size (and I refused to put him in a run alone), I left him on his dam full time for 4 months to just let him grow. Therefore, Entrepid was not on DHI milktest as a FF in 2010. She was also a persistant milker and didn't want to dry up! She will be on DHI in 2011.

Entrepid gave us a gorgeous big buck kid sired by Dale on 6/28/11. Spring kidding planned for 2012 and we're going to try out our young buck, Wincatchadude. Not sure if he's ready yet but we'll see! Doe & buck kids, $500.

Lleesa has a great pedigree and a great personality to go with. Her dam was a first freshener and has gone on to do good things in another herd, but on her first DHI milk test, produced more than 13#'s and is in the 96th percentile for production. Wow.Lleesa has been a good milker even when being milked only once a day in the fall/winter, and easily attained her dairy star and SG status as a FF. Lleesa also has the flattest rump in the herd with a beautiful, dishy head too. She was appriased this year milking through and kidded a week after appraisals, so was rather stale in udder.

Single buck kid, $500, sired by Dale born 7/15/11, available. He automatically inherits his dairy star too. Lleesa will be kidding spring 2012 between 3/6/12 and 4/8/12, confirmed pregnant 12/28 and bred to Alexdrea. Doe/buck kids $650.

Our newest arrival from Fern and Lauren, "Sprite" is a very lovely girl. She has grown quite well and stayed quite level.

Sprite was bred to Dale for late June/early July kidding. She didn't take and was re-bred May 6th to Dale for October kidding. Beautiful single doe kid born 10-2-2011! Doe kid $450 - AVAILABLE.

Since she had a small udder this freshening, she will be bred to Alexdrea in January for June kids. Kids $450.

Alex brings to our herd not only incredible genetics, but also an incredibly high ETA for the breed - ADGA's 2010 Young Sire Development Program report had Alex at the very top for PTA 2:1. He has now been DNA'd also as are both of his parents. His dam ranked in the DHI Top Ten Milk Production in only her 2nd lactation. She also produced live quads for 2011! He is long, dairy, and extremely well put together. Alex will be used for 2012 kids.

A big boy already, and with an exciting pedigree. Maternal grandson of the 2009 National Champion and Paternal grandson of the 2002 National Rs Champion who was also the dam of the 2010 Nat'l Rs Gr Champion! Add to that Jude's daughter, Elendili and her incredible pallet of accomplishments for the breed, I'm looking forward to using this boy in our program.

What an exciting breeding lineup we'll have for Summer of 2011! The mature girls will be bred to Alexdrea and should start kidding in April and May. If you would like to get on our waiting list, please do email us as soon as possible. Prices will start at $500 for kids and reservations are accepted in advance with deposit.

We will do our best to fill your reservation, but reserve the right to retain a kid should we deem necessary. Kids must be picked up by 4 weeks of age; anything over 4 weeks will incure a $5 a day boarding charge with prior arrangements required; if not paid for in full by 4 weeks, your deposit is forfeited, there will be no refund, and the kid will be made available to the next person - please plan accordingly. Should there be no kid to fill your reservation, or we feel that the kid born is not acceptable, your money will be refunded. Deposits are not refunded on cancelled orders.

We are not responsible for any doe you purchase which freshens before 16 months of age - just because they grow fast and can freshen young doesn't mean they should! They should not be free-fed as they may experience too rapid of growth which is detrimental to high-production does. Please give them time to grow the bodies needed to maintain those large udders!

Shipping, vet check, registration, crate, and transportation to the airport are extra and can certainly be arranged. Current airfare on Continental Airlines, our preferred shipper, is running about $225 per crate. Only one kid can travel per crate, per airline IATA regulations. Vet check and health certificate is $65, and an additional $35 per kid/certificate at this time. As always, airline and veterinary prices are subject to change.

Thank you for your understanding!
